How it all started…

By seventeen, Regina Brueshaber had discovered her love for cooking. Being young and inexperienced at the time, she worked at it one meal at a time. Perfecting each recipe before moving onto the next. Her passion quickly lead her to take her very first job as a waitress.

The Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Business Person of the year: Regina Brueshaber

For five years, between full shifts, night catering, and raising a family, she would sit up at night dreaming up menus and flipping through cooking books, and studying recipes. She’d breakdown her favorite—taking out ingredients and spices she didn’t like and adding the ones she did. Before she knew it, she had a collection worthy of a perfect southern eatery before anyone approached her about opening up a restaurant.

A few years later, friends, family and customers would urge her to look for a space that would bring her dreams to life. Regina, a self-taught cook, decided to go all-in and founded Gina Belle’s Restaurant. She redid the space to create an inviting atmosphere and soulful menu that felt like home.

“When people come in here, I want it to feel welcoming. A place that reminds them of the food their Momma or Granny used to make. Cooked from scratch and served up with a side of love. A place where everyone feels at home with their family.”

When you visit Gina Belle’s you are going to experience authentic soul food. Regina says, “People will know there is a lot of time and effort being put into what they eating because our food tastes like it.” We take the time to cook things right. The fried chicken is marinated overnight, seasoned, and simmered in its juices the next day. The biscuits are made fresh. They cook with ham hocks. The Mac and Cheese is a family recipe made with four different kinds of cheese. You’ll find most menu items are made from scratch with hand-selected ingredients from local growers.

But Gina Belle’s Restaurant strives to serve more than great Southern food. It exists to support the local community and long-standing employees—most of whom have been with the business for 10 years or more.
